Land Between the Lakes

This unique area on the Kentucky-Tennessee border was shaped by damming the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers, creating Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. We enjoyed relaxing at our campsite and doing more birdwatching. We also enjoyed the Golden Pond visitor center and the Woddlands Nature Center which had an outdoor backyard exhibit and a preserve for rescued local wildlife. But the icing on the cake was the Elk and Bison Prairie! This 3.5 mile drive brings one up close to these gorgeous animals - the pictures speak for themselves!
