Abraham Lincoln in Kentucky

We truly loved going to the first 2 homes of Abe Lincoln, his birthplace at Sinking Spring, and his boyhood home at Knob Creek.

There is a monument at Sinking Spring containing a log cabin similar to the one in which he was born, as well as a museum at the visitor center. Also on the grounds is the spring itself, which gives the location its name. It was indeed sunken, and the temperature dropped significantly as we went down the steps to it. Lincoln spent his first two years at the Sinking Spring.

We then went to nearby Knob Creek, where another representative log cabin was located. He lived there from ages 2 to 8.

Lincoln came from very humble beginnings and went on to become one of our country’s greatest Presidents. We could feel his spirit in these two very special places.
